Outfit Inspiration for Fall 2022?
Are you struggling to find the right cardigan or coat for this fall season? Are you almost convinced you should wear one of the autumnal colors: burgundy, mustard, moss green, coffee brown or terracotta? Just because all the fast fashion shops invite you to do so or just because you don’t want to stand out from the crowd?
Stay True to Your Colors
If you are not an autumn typology, then I have a piece of advise for you: leave those colors to the trees and their wind of change and YOU STAY TRUE TO YOUR COLORS! Because your colors will make you look and feel at your best.
As for the standing out from the crowd, I bet we can find together some shades that give you plenty of options to blend in if that’s what you are after. But now that we are here, what’s wrong in standing out? I guess it we can discuss that in a more private conversation. Either way, I bet we can solve this together.
Summer Typology Outfit in Fall
If you are not feeling quite right to stand out in a lavender coat, choose a muted light blue color or a soft white for your coat (outfit 1 below), which will still look great even when the weather is grey. And if you really like autumn colors you can throw a bit of those in your outfit as long as they are not close to your face. For example, you can opt for a brown rose bag or a line of coffee brown in your cozy sweater or even a pair of light brown boots instead of the white ones.
What I can also recommend, if you are a lady with a summer typology, and you like darker colors, why don’t you try navy and teal, plum and even raspberry for autumn?
Spring Typology Outfit in Fall
It may be a bit easier for a spring typology to wear warm autumnal shades. This is because autumn and spring typology have something in common: they all look great in warm colors. But a lady with a spring typology will look much better in saturated & lighter colors while a lady with an autumn typology would choose deeper and darker shades of that color.
Orange will be a color both spring and autumn will have in common, but while spring typology will look better in lighter and saturated shades of orange, autumn typology will prefer pumpkin and darker shades of orange.
On the other hand, nuances of pink (peach pink like the coat or warm pastel pink like the wrap-up top in outfit one below) are a great choice for a spring typology, but they will do no justice to an autumn typology who will rarely be seen wearing any shade of pink actually.
Winter Typology Outfit in Fall
If you have a winter typology, most certainly the color you will tend to purchase will be grey or black. And it’s nothing wrong with that. But what I am trying to do with this exercise here is to convince you that there are so many options. We know that some of us buy because we are bored with our clothes. And if we continue to buy the same colors and same cuts it will most certainly get even more boring. So I propose a burgundy wool coat and a white puffer jacket instead of the grey or black coat. And why not create your own fun wardrobe with a pair of blue ankle boots, a colourful and funky pair of pants to go with those boots and a multicolour handbag?
This bag is the clear example of color disharmony I was discussing here before. Which is a tactic a lot of fashion designer use. They do this to captivate, to draw attention and basically to create a standing out piece. Two cold colors, navy and sky blue mixed with two warm colors, the pumpkin orange and a camel – almost indistinguishable – strap. I love how much harmony this bag brings even though its designer use the color disharmony technique to achieve a ‘standing out’ item.
Do you still believe your fall outfit needs to match the colors of the leaves outside?
