When advising my clients on style, I look beyond just the design and fit of clothing. Over time, from childhood onward, we accumulate beliefs about how we should dress—shaped by our culture, parents, friends, peers, and influential figures. But should their opinions really dictate our choices? Do we even realize how much we’re influenced by those around us?
As I mentioned in my video, here is the limiting beliefs table to help you uncover the reasons behind why you avoid wearing certain garments, specific styles, or pairing items in particular ways—or why you feel hesitant to wear them for certain occasions. I encourage you to list your limiting beliefs one by one. This is the first step. The second is to challenge and overcome each one
Below is the exercise on peer-inspired purchases and evaluating how satisfied you are with them. I hope it helps you gain deeper awareness of your personal style. Social norms and peer pressure can be subtle influences—we often don’t realize how much they shape the way we dress. Challenging the expectations of your workplace, social circle, or society at large takes courage, and it may not always feel comfortable. You can either conform and risk feeling dissatisfied with your wardrobe, or stay true to your style and feel confident in your choices.
